Obesity is a very big problem to deal with especially for children. Although you want your child to have the proper supply of nutrients and vitamins, the possibility of becoming overweight should prompt you to watch what they eat.
Being overweight has severe emotional as well as physical consequences for children. A feeling of hopelessness, worthlessness and fatigue are the results that your children might encounter if they are obese. They can also have a big probability of suffering from diabetes and heart disease. They can also have the problem of growing too fast unlike normal children who are not overweight.
Being overweight may make the child a loner and he/she will be having difficulty in making friends with the other children. The parents of the obese children somehow do not know what emotional problem their children are dealing with.
There are many ways to help your children not to become obese. One thing you can do is to encourage your children to be active and more energetic as well as making sure they avoid sugary snacks and fried foods and eat more fruits, vegetables and whole wheat.
Here are some healthy ways to encourage your children to be energetic and active everyday.
1. You can be a good example for your children to be more active and energetic. Ride on a bike, have a regular walk or you can take your dog out for a walk. By showing them how physically active you are and you are really having a great time doing it, your child will be encourage to join in.
2. You must encourage your child to join sports events in their schools or even in your community, like basketball, soccer, volleyball and swimming. Getting involved with sports will help your child to lower the possibility of being obese. Also encourage your child do some gymnastics and exercises.
3. You must be aware of the emotional needs of your child. Do not let your child feel embarrassed. If your child does not like to join an activity like sports, you should help him/her to find any physical activities where he/she is comfortable in doing such things.
4. You can encourage your child to become active even inside your home. You can give your child some tasks that can make him active like washing the clothes, cleaning the house, fixing the beddings and a lot more. You can go on excursions, out of town trips or picnics so that your child becomes more energetic.
5. You can have a fun physical activity for your children. You can let them make use of the exercise equipments, like a treadmill, bike or allow them to lift heavy weights since their body are not yet fully built and not yet ready to do the adult-style of physical activity. This should be done always with adult supervision.
