Carbohydrate Addicts Diet Review

Enjoy Rich Reward Meals and Lose Weight?

The Carbohydrate Addicts Diet is a different twist on the low carb diet.
Designed by Dr's Richard and Rachel Heller, it works on the theory that 3/4 of overweight people are addicted to carbohydrates.

This carbohydrate addiction causes excess insulin to be released which in turn causes overeating and weight gain. To control this addiction, they recommend eating 2 non insulin producing or craving reducing meals and 1 reward meal. Like all low carb diets, the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet claims to reduce hunger and improve health.

The craving reducing meals consist of protein and low glycemic index vegetables such as leafy greens. You eat two of those a day and are rewarded for your third meal with....

The reward meal. The Carbohydrate Addicts Diet is unique in this feature which consists of 1 meal a day that must be eaten within a 1 hour time frame. You must start off the meal with a salad, and the meal consists of equal parts of 1/3 protein (meat, fish, chicken), 1/3 low glycemic index vegetables like brocolli or zucchini and 1/3 starchy vegetable like potatoes, breads, or dessert!.

Sounds great, right?

The catch to the Carbohydrate Addicts diet reward meal is that you must eat them in equal amounts so if you want 2 pieces of cake, you must have 2 pieces of protein (equal in volume to the size of the cake) and 2 helpings of low glycemic vegetables (also equal in volume to the size of the cake). It's very easy to overeat the "bad" carbs and end up just eating too much and gaining more weight!

If, however, you are good at controlling your portions the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet might be one for you.
