Food List For High Protein Diets

Your food list for high protein diets should include plenty of low fat meats, poultry and seafood as well as leafy greens. Depending on which phase of the diet you are in you may also be able to have some low glycemic index breads, grains, fruits and vegetables too. High protein diets work by eliminating “bad” carbohydrates that can trigger cravings and weight gain. These “bad” carbs are typically found in processed foods and foods made with white flour and sugar.

It’s not only processed foods and baked goods that you need to eliminate from your food list for high protein diets - even fruits and high starch vegetables contain high glycemic index carbohydrates that can cause your body to go on a roller coaster ride of hunger pangs and fat gain. That’s why the first phase of any low carb or high protein diet will eliminate all fruits as well as most vegetables aside from the leafy greens which have only trace amounts of carbs.
