A glycemic index food list is a must for anyone who is starting a gi diet. This type of a list will tell you what foods have a low glycemic index value and which ones are high.
The glycemic index is a way to rank foods that contain carbohydrates based on the effect it has on your blood sugar. A high glycemic index food will cause a spike in blood sugar resulting in your hunger returning quicker than a low glycemic index food which causes a gradual rise in blood sugar and the feeling of being full longer.
Of course, no one eats just one type of food at a meal, so the key to feeling full longer with the glycemic index is to make sure you eat some low glycemic index foods along with your high glycemic index foods at each meal. The lower the index, and the more of them in comparison to the rest of the meal, the better off you will be.
