Low Carb Bread, Low Carb Bagels & Baked Goods Food Review

This low carb breads food review will give you the real scoop on what low carb bagels, breads, and other baked goods really taste like. I’ve taste tested all of these myself and conned my friends and family into tasting some of them too! Real food taste tests by real people.

Low carb breads taste almost as good as the real thing, so finally you can have low carb bagels for breakfast and still not blow your carb budget. Most of these have lots of fiber and protein and are low in fat too!

Baked goods low in carbs can be bought already made or in mix form that you can make yourself. All the mixes I have tried are pretty easy - just add water, egg and oil in various combinations and bake.

I have taste tested all the low carb breads and products listed below and rated them (using the bread icon) from 1 to 5 with 1 being the worst tasting and 5 being the best.

low carb bread low carb bagels Atkins Banana Nut Low Carb Bread and Muffin Mix - This one is my favorite! I made the low carb bread version and put chopped up walnuts in it. I dare you to try this on your family - they’ll never guess it is a low carb bread! Only 2g net carbs per slice and 7 grams protein - it is a bit high in fat having 170 calories and 100 of those from fat (and more if you add in the walnuts like I did).

Harbar Maria & Ricardo's Carb Smart Tortillas - Tomato & Basil - These are fabulous and have a ton of uses. I lightly toast them and use them as a bread for tuna sandwiches. I have also used them in my Crab Rangoon recipe . You can cut them up and bake them for a crunchy chip or use them for a soft tortilla too! They came in a bunch of different flavors, but I haven’t tried them all yet. The green onion flavor has 6g net carbs for each tortilla, 7.9g protein, 87 calories and 3.2g fat.

Cedars Whole Wheat Wraps - Simply yummy and only 5 g net carbs per wrap! use it for sandwiches, put sub fillings inside and even use it for low carb pizza

Arnold Carb Counting 100% Whole Wheat Bread - This bread is pretty good compared to some other breads I have tried. It has no icky soy aftertaste but is a little but less bready tasting than regular whole wheat. All in all a pretty good bread for only 6 g per slice.

Atkins Country White Bread Mix - I make this low carb bread in my bread maker and it was easy as can be! It does have a slight aftertaste (so I rated it only at a 4), but I still like it and have made it several times. It’s great to sop up egg yolks. Only 3g net carbs per slice, 12 grams protein and only 80 calories and 0 grams of fat.

Atkins Corn Muffin and Bread Mix I made the bread version of this and it is delicious if slightly dry. This has 8g net carbs and 8 grams protein with 170 calories (90 calories from fat so it is over 50% fat).

CarbXtract Plain Bagel - I do love these low carb bagels and they taste great, they are a bit smaller and thinner than a bagel that you would get at Dunkin Donuts or a bagel shop and they toast up crunchier which is the only reason I give it a 4 and not a 5. But if you’ve got a hankering for a bagel you can munch on one of these and satisfy your urge for only 7.5 g net carbs per ½ bagel. Each ½ bagel also has 4 grams protein, 67 calories and 1.75 grams of fat.

I have also tried their Poppy Seed Low Carb Bagels and those are delicious as well. I buy a couple dozen of them at a time and keep them in the freezer so I can have some on hand whenever the urge strikes.

CarbXtract Mini Choc Covered Donut - This wasn’t very sweet and tasted more like a bagel. I wasn’t impressed. These little mini donuts come pre made and have 3.5g carbs, 1.56g protein, 38 calories and 1.73g fat.

Atkins Pancake and Waffle Mix - Although the texture of these came out fine (I made the pancakes) they had a horrible aftertaste. Even after smothering them in butter and syrup, I still threw most of them away. They have 3g net carbs, 13 g protein, 200 calories and 1.5g fat.

Better Streusel Blueberry Muffins - Had a weird aftertaste and not really satisfying as a muffin at all. Has 12.9g net carbs, 10.5g protein, 185 calories and 11.5g fat.
