Low Carb Desserts Food Review
This low carb desserts food review will give you the real scoop on what these cookies and brownies really taste like. I’ve taste tested all of these myself so I know what they really taste like! You can have your cake and be low carb too! There’s plenty of desserts out there which you can buy premade, or in mixes. Of course it is a good idea to limit yourself on desserts, but once in a while you do need to treat yourself and it’s better to have low carb desserts on hand than to eat the high carb version. I know that for me at least, once I start to eat sugary desserts I can’t stop myself and end up overeating and then being mad at myself. With these desserts, you can have a little piece when you get an urge and walk away satisfied without binging. |
I have taste tested all the low carb desserts listed below and rated them (with the cake icon) on a scale from 1 to 5 with 1 being the worst tasting and 5 being the best. I don’t include chocolate in this list - I have a separate section just for that - see the links at the bottom of this page.
Atkins Fudge Brownie Mix Low Carb Desserts
- yummy moist and chocolatey, this mix is easy to make and tastes great. You can keep the mix on hand for when you have a craving and whip up your own low carb desserts. When prepared it has 15g net carbs per 2" brownie, 1g protein, 170 calories and 7.8g fat. It does have
maltitol
in it so be careful with the portions (I’ve never had any problems, but if you are sensitive to it be careful).
Better Low Carb Brownies - these brownies are purchased pre made, so if you aren’t into baking these might be the desserts for you! I buy them online but if you have a low carbohydrate store near you they may carry this, or perhaps you could ask them to. They are pretty good, but with a slight aftertaste so I rated them a 4. They are extremely low in carbs, fat and calories so stacked up against the Atkins mix I’d prefer these based on nutrition even though they do have a slight aftertaste (I only rated them on taste so the Atkins did get a higher rating). A 2" square has only 2 g. carbs, 2g protein, 4g fat and only 47 calories.
Keto Lemon Nut Cookies - Very sweet but a slight aftertaste, these biscotti style cookies are great to have with coffee or for dipping in milk or cocoa. The cookies are large and individually wrapped. These low carb desserts have 3.5g net carbs per cookie 13g protein, 157 calories and 9g fat.
Murray Sugar Free Shortbread Cookies - Pretty good, nice dry texture and sweet but missing a little something that high carb shortbreads have. Has 18g carbs, 2g protein, 170 calories and 11g fat. Made with maltitol so don’t pig out on the whole package!
