Low Carb Restaurant Eating Tips

Apply the same principles to low carb restaurant eating as you do to any other meal.

Just because you are eating a low carb diet does not mean that you have to limit yourself to your own kitchen! Even if you do not have a low carb restaurant in your area, there's plenty of things to eat at your favorite restaurant. Here's some tips:
Don't know what to order?

How about starting off with some Shrimp Cocktail? Munch on all the succulent shrimps you want, but try to avoid the cocktail sauce. Of course you can fill up on all the salad you want but set aside the croutons and watch for hidden carbs in the dressing, or better yet, bring your own little container of low carb dressing and pile it on.

You might even want to have a nice chicken ceasar salad

or shrimp ceasar salad for your main meal or perhaps you prefer a nice juicy steak, or prime rib - just order extra low carb veggies instead of potato. Perhaps you prefer seafood? Lobster smothered in butter, steamers, muscles - your friends will be envious to see you loading up on seafood dripping in butter. And don't forget fresh fish! Just be sure to order it broiled with NO breadcrumbs and never order fried.

You can order any meat dish, but be careful about how it is prepared - nothing breaded of course. Ask your waitperson what other ingredients go into the preparation of the food. If you feel like a big juicy cheeseburger have one - just toss aside the bun and eat it with a knife and fork!

Some Things to Avoid:

  • Breads - (don't arrive starved and you won't be tempted to fill up on bread)
  • Chowders
  • Anything Fried
  • Pasta
  • White Rice
  • Desserts
