Add Flavor To Your Mashed Cauliflower Recipe
You can enhance any mashed cauliflower recipe to be flavorful and zesty.
Cauliflower is a great low carb alternative to potatoes that has almost the same taste but is really a lot better for you. It’s easy to cook and can be reheated so you can bring it along to dinner at your family or friends house where mashed potatoes are being served and ask that they substitute the cauliflower for the potatoes on your plate.
Even plain mashed cauliflower tastes great but you can take this basic mashed cauliflower recipe and add some great low carb toppings or mix in additions to get the taste of gourmet potatoes.

You can convert your own favorite recipes for mashed potatoes to be used with cauliflower by simply substituting the cauliflower for the potatoes and adjusting the cooking time. Any recipe you come across in a cookbook or magazine can be modified in the same manner.
Below are some great ways to add a different flavor to any cauliflower recipe:
Go for the Garlic! Garlic adds flavor and is good for you too! Crush 2 garlic cloves (or to taste) per head of cauliflower and let the crushed pieces sit for 5 minutes. Add them to the cooked cauliflower before you mash it. Using the garlic raw like this will provide the full benefits of this wonderful healing herb.
Be Cheesy! Sometimes cheesy is good and especially when talking about mashed cauliflower. You can add anywhere from just a sprinkle of parmesan to a smattering of different types of cheese. You may have to microwave the mashed cauliflower if you want the cheese to melt in. Try cutting it up as small as possible and adding it while the cauliflower is very hot.
Bake it Convert your recipe into a casserole by adding some cheese, bacon bits and ham to the cauliflower mixture. Put that in a casserole dish and spread some butter or even cheese on top. Bake until brown.
Hint:If your cauliflower is too lumpy, whip it in the food processor to get that smooth creamy taste of potatoes. Cauliflower is not as heavy and doesn’t hold the heat as well as potatoes, so you will need to plan accordingly or set aside the cauliflower mash and pop it into the microwave at the last minute just before you serve the meal.
