Sure, you put it in your lasagna, but it’s also used in many Italian desserts and when
combined with a sweetener (for low carb use try Splenda), and some flavoring, it’s delicious!

but here’s the basics of how to make a dessert using this common ingredient:
Use part skim Ricotta (and don’t overdue it as you want to limit carbs)
Use a little amount of Splenda (about 1 little package)
Add in some “flavor” to taste
Easy as pie! Of course it’s the “flavor” part that makes this south beach diet recipe so versatile. Some things you might add are: vanilla extract (not too much), zest from a lemon, instant coffee, chocolate syrup (probably you should stick to low carb or carb free), any 0 carb flavored syrup can be mixed in as well as any type of flavored extract (I used maple extract once and it was divine)!
You don’t need a lot of the flavoring, and especially the extract because if you use too much it tastes a bit like medicine so add gradually to taste.
